4th FUNDING CALL
Objectives
This initiative aims to educate students and the wider community about the importance of water sustainability and environmental protection through a creative and engaging medium: a comic book series.
The project has four key objectives:
- To raise awareness about water sustainability and environmental protection among students and the school community.
- To creatively educate students on selected topics from the ProBleu call, specifically marine and freshwater conservation.
- To empower students to take on leadership roles as environmental ambassadors through storytelling and illustration.
- To produce reusable educational comic books that promote key ProBleu topics and can be shared with other schools and the public.
Activities & Collaborations
The project is set to run for six months and involves a structured timeline of activities.
- Month 1: The project kicks off with a launch meeting, team formation, and an introductory workshop on ProBleu topics, storytelling, and illustration. Students will be selected through an open call, with a focus on ensuring gender balance and inclusivity.
- Months 2–3: Students will conduct research on topics like plastic pollution and destructive fishing and work on developing their comic narratives and character designs. Teachers will be supported by local NGOs during this phase.
- Month 4: Students will illustrate and digitize the comic pages, with a graphic designer providing support for the final layout.
- Month 5: The comics will be translated into both Albanian and English, printed on recycled paper, and promotional materials will be prepared.
- Month 6: A launch event will be held to present the comic books to students, invited schools, and the wider community. The digital versions of the comics will be uploaded to the ProBleu platform and the school’s website for wider access.
The project involves collaborations with various community members and organizations. Parents, local NGOs, municipal representatives, and librarians will be invited to the launch event. Additionally, local partners may assist with translation and printing. Teachers from other subjects will also contribute to the workshops.
Expected Outputs & Impact
The project will produce several tangible outputs that can be reused and shared.
- A series of 3–5 comic books on ProBleu topics, available in both English and Albanian.
- Digital and printed versions of the comics.
- Educational posters and banners for the launch event.
- Reusable teaching resources to be shared on the ProBleu platform and the school website.
These outputs will be integrated into the school’s curriculum, linking to subjects like language arts, science, art, and civic education. This interdisciplinary approach will introduce climate and water literacy to students through a hands-on, project-based learning experience.

The project expects to directly involve 90 students from grades 2-5 in the creation of the comic books. A further 150 students from the school will be indirectly involved through exhibitions and events. An additional 100 students from other schools will also be invited to the launch event and receive printed comics, extending the project’s reach beyond the participating school. The project prioritizes the inclusion of students with fewer opportunities, including those with educational difficulties, cultural differences, and economic barriers. The school will provide necessary materials and workshops will be held during school hours to ensure accessibility for all students.
